Hello my name is Francesca. Thank you so much for joining me for another quick marketing tip. Today we’re going to be looking at a new update from Google, specifically the fact that Google changed the name of Google My Business to Google Business Profile.

What does that mean for you besides just a name change?

Well for starters, the Google My Business app will be going away. Google will be directing businesses to make edits to location listings direct from Google Search or Google Maps for multiple location stores. The Google My Business website will be rebranded to Business Profile Manager, but it’s expected to work in a similar way.

So there are some new features that will be released with the update of Google Business Profile. Those include being able to verify your listing direct from Google Search or Google Maps.

There’s also a feature that will be coming soon that’s called Call History.

Now this one is interesting when a customer clicks call from a Google Search that’s linked to your Google Business Profile, Google will now log all of those calls in one place for you. Meaning you’ll be able to track activity a little bit better, but also keep track of any calls you may have missed allowing you to keep in touch with your customers.

Now why is this important? Well for starters, local search is significantly powered off of Google Business Profiles. While for now it just seems like this is a name change, a lot of features formerly reserved for the Google My Business app and on the Google My Business website will now be getting rolled into Google Search and Google Maps.

It’s incredibly important for businesses of all sizes to take advantage of all of the features available within Google My Business.

Understanding where you can access the ability to make changes and update information is incredibly important for businesses of all sizes.
