With the 4th of July quickly approaching, it’s a good opportunity to talk about the importance of updating your special/holiday hours on Google Business Profile.

Hello, my name is Francesca. Thanks so much for joining me for another quick marketing tip. Today let’s talk about setting special hours on Google Business Profile.

With the 4th of July quickly approaching, it’s one of those holidays that can leave customers wondering, is this store open or closed today as a consumer it can be frustrating to be left wondering is the store open or closed? So it’s important to make it as easy as possible for customers to find out this information, and of course the 4th of July is just one example. I’m also talking Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, even Memorial Day.

If you’re open or closed, make it as easy for customers to find this information as possible, and Google Business Profile helps with this by allowing you to set special hours per location. Now of course this could apply for a holiday, but it also could apply if your store is closing because you’re going on vacation, or for a special event, something like that.

Any change to your hours can be posted here. Simply put, setting special hours enables your shoppers to find the information they need to shop in your store, while also leaving your regular Sunday to Saturday hours intact.

Here’s how you do it to do this. Visit google.com/business. Once there click sign in. You’ll be brought to your location dashboard page. From there, click info on the left hand side and scroll down just a bit in the middle until you see a section here with some hours. Now for reference, this was the Easter hours for this location, but go ahead and click the pencil and you’ll see an opportunity to add additional hours here. Now this store is closed on July 4th, so I’m going to click confirm hours and I’m going to toggle this to closed. Now I also know that this store is closed on July 5th as well, so I’m going to go ahead and add that and toggle that to closed. When I click apply, see that information is posted there and I’ll give it about a day or two before it’ll automatically populate on my Google Business Profile page.

Now for reference, when someone does a search for your business they will now see a tag that says this business is closed today for someone who is searching on July 4th or July 5th. This is something you can do on your own, or something your marketing specialist could take care of for you with our Google Business Hours Program and SEO Reports. Feel free to reach out to your marketing specialist for more information.
